It’s always wonderful to reach milestones. Saturday evening marked my 18th year as the national film and TV critic on the Hollywood 360 Radio Network. Yes, 18 years with the Hollywood 360 Radio Network!
The 2026 TV series “The Madison” stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, whose husband, Preston, is played by Kurt Russell. The show is streaming on Paramount+ now. It’s been nearly four decades since Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell shared the screen in “Tequila Sunrise” (1988) and are now enjoying Montana sunsets in creator and writer Taylor Sheridan’s “The Madison.”

The wealthy couple’s permanent residence is in Manhattan, New York, as they attend fancy parties and dinners. We catch a glimpse of their beautifully decorated home amidst the hustle and bustle of New Yorkers as they scurry to work on the jam-packed sidewalks, next to bumper-to-bumper traffic. As the matriarch and self-described Big Apple “city mouse,” Stacy (Michelle Pfeiffer) is quoted as saying, “Mine is not a family designed to withstand tragedy.” We shockingly see her daughter get mugged on the street and her packages stolen.
In southwest Montana, Preston and his brother Paul, played by Matthew Fox, love fly-fishing in the quaint Madison River. Paul lives there most of the time as he enjoys the peace and quiet, as well as the beautiful landscape of Montana. In viewing Preston with his friend enjoying the fresh air and beauty of Montana, it is very apparent from his smiles that he truly loves the land. When tragedy strikes and Stacy Clyburn is summoned to Montana to be near her husband, the series takes an interesting turn. Little does Stacy realize, she too begins to fall in love with the peace and quiet as well as the beautiful landscape of Montana.
In the series, you’ll meet Stacy’s three daughters and granddaughters as well as son in law’s. Together they learn the wonders and pitfalls of living so close to nature, animals, and insects. Yes, we see an encounter with bumble bees as well as other situations that require immediate attention. I found Preston’s diary and notes about Montana to be a great asset to the storytelling, as they’re from his perspective and let us learn more about him.
I appreciated what creator/writer Taylor Sheridan is trying to show us in his scripts and situations about the Montana landscape. A thought that appeared while I was watching it which made me smile is that it’s almost the opposite of what farm girl Dorothy in the “Wizard of Oz” encounters, when she arrives in the land of Oz, and says, “Toto, “I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.”
The six episodes of the first season of The Madison can be viewed on Paramount +, the first three episodes dropped on March 14, 2026. The remaining three episodes were released on March 21, 2026. The great news is that The Madison has been renewed for a second season.
