The popular TV series “The Diplomat” begins Season 2. It features 8 Episodes, starring (Keri Russell) as Kate Wyler, the US Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Season 2 opened on October 31 on Netflix.
Beginning after a deadly explosion in London, Kate Wyler looks for the truth, finding her main ally as her almost-ex-husband Hal Wyler (Rufus Sewell), who is not only alive but also involved.

Academy Award winner Allison Janney joined the cast as US Vice President Grace Penn. I especially enjoyed her scenes with Kerri Russell, especially when the two women started talking ‘girl talk,’ which I found amusing.
During the 6 episodes, you’ll sometimes be on the edge of your seat! Russel’s Kate Wyler gives a strong award-worthy performance as she faces a troubled marriage, a complex, forceful British Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and a threatening visit from Vice President Grace Penn.

I can highly recommend this excellent series. Kerri Russel and the other cast members give fantastic performances that are full of mystery and intrigue.
Creator Debora Cahn said the latest installment will see a turbulent season for Russell’s character and her husband. “Everything we thought we knew about the Wylers changes,” Cahn said in the official press release. “As does everything they think they know about each other.”

In an interview with Esquire, Rufus Sewell, who plays Kate’s husband, Hal, revealed that he’s eager to see what happens next. “I would like the show to continue as long as it can—with or without me,” he said. “It’s so well cast, it’s such a fun show to be in, and it’s one of those things that plays like it reads. One of the delights [of acting] is to read something, have a gut feeling about it, then turn up [to the job], and it feels right. Then you watch it, and it’s what you imagined.

“The Diplomat” has been a major win for Netflix, thanks to stellar performances by Sewell and his castmates, who expertly depict the chaos of working as political negotiators. I strongly suggest to check it out October 31 on Netflix.
